What is white light?
The light from the sun or from a light bulb appears white. It actually consists of many colors whose mix is white.
You can observe the mixing of colors by using a Newton disk (to download here). When the disk rotates, the colors pass quickly in front of your eyes. The eyes then combine all the colors into white. Watch the video!
The rainbow box
With a CD, you can split the colors from the white light, as the raindrops do in a rainbow. Using a box, as Oscar is doing, you will obtain a nicer result.
